Thorsten Elkjær, COO of Naviair in Denmark, is the new Chairman of the board of the Borealis Alliance.  

Friday the 11th of October the Borealis Alliance Board met at the Naviair HQ in Copenhagen.  

Borealis participated in the ANCEN's first plenary meeting, launching the cooperation.

The Borealis Alliance ANSPs place environment at the highest level of their priorities and intend to intensify their efforts to contribute substantially to the “European Green Deal”.

Eurocontrol's Aviation Sustainability Briefing magazine recently published an interview with Borealis Alliance Executive Director Reynir Sigurdsson on how the Alliance has transformed the way airlines fly through Northern Europe.

Ivar Värk, Chairman of the Management Board and CEO of Estonian Air Navigation Services (EANS), is the new Chairman of the board of Borealis Alliance. Mr Vark takes over from Ann Persson Grivas, Director General of LFV, Air Navigation Services of Sweden, who has been Chairman for the last two years.

Today (2 December 2021), NATS, the UK’s air navigation services provider, implemented the latest steps in the Borealis Alliance Free Route Airspace (FRA) Programme, and the first deployment of FRA in the UK. 

The Borealis Alliance is a pioneer in the implementation of a complete, truly cross-border, free route airspace (FRA) amongst the airspace managed by its nine members. Whilst full implementation has been slowed down by the COVID crisis and is now planned by end 2023, partial FRA implementation has already delivered very substantial benefits. 

The Borealis Alliance Board, consisting of leaders from nine European Air Navigation Service Providers have recently reaffirmed their intention to collaborate on future initiatives and reiterated their commitment to the original Alliance Vision “To be the leading ANSP Alliance that enables its members to drive better performance for stakeholders through business collaboration.”

Ann Persson Grivas, Director General of LFV, Air Navigation Services of Sweden, is the new Chairman of the board of the Borealis Alliance, and Anders Kirsebom, CEO of Avinor Air Navigation Services in Norway, is the new Vice-Chair of the Borealis Alliance. 

Interview with Ásgeir Pálsson, who - by the end of October - will leave his post as chairman of the board of the Borealis Alliance and as CEO for ISAVIA.

The Borealis Alliance, a business-driven Alliance of Air Navigation Service Providers in Europe, has announced the appointment of its new Policy and Regulatory Director, Mr Francois Huet.
